Cray Valley PM v Northwood preview

F.A. Cup football returns to Eltham tonight with the Second Qualifying Round Replay between Cray Valley (PM) and Northwood.

On Saturday, the two teams drew two all at the Skyline Roofing Stadium as the hosts twice came from behind. It took the Vickers just five minutes to go ahead when Kyrell Lisbie continued his good form scoring in his seventh consecutive game only for Ricardo Alexandre-Greenaway to equalise two minutes later.

Freddie Parker put Cray back ahead from Lisbie’s cross, however, just shy of the hour mark Dan Williams restored parity. There was no further goalscoring but there were red cards after the final whistle when Northwood’s Andrew McCorkell and Jensen Grant of the visitors had a falling out

The replay will be the fifth F.A. Cup game for Cray Valley who entered at the preliminary round where they needed a replay to see off Lordswood. They then won three-nil at Uxbridge in the First Qualifying Round

They have also progressed in the F.A. Trophy when winning two-nil at Broadbridge Heath. The knock-out tournament activity means that they have only played three Isthmian League South East games from which they have collected seven points.

Visitors Northwood play at the same level, only in the Isthmian South Central. They will also be contesting their fifth F.A. Cup tie having beaten Buckhurst Hill in the Preliminary Round and Binfield in a replay in the First Qualifying Round. Their Trophy run ended at the first time of asking when losing three-nil at Ramsgate. They have only played two league games, and won them both.

Should the replay be level after ninety minutes, extra time will be played and if there is no winner after that, there will be a penalty shoot-out. Whoever wins that will progress to the Third Qualifying Round and a visit to Carshalton Athletic.
