Cray Valley Ladies produced a much better second half performance but just fell short as their comeback failed to gain the equaliser they were seeking going down by two goals to one. 

Glebe had taken a two goal lead into the interval. The first came after 20 minutes from an excellent cross field ball into space, splitting the defence, giving Leana Ransom the opportunity to run onto the ball and through on goal with just the keeper to beat she finished well.

Glebe added a second from a corner with Leana Ransom again the scorer getting the vital touch with her head as the ball swung in. 

Cray Valley Ladies came out for the second half much more purposeful and started to produce some excellent passing build up play. Katie Jackson had a couple of shots but the Glebe keeper was equal to one and the other off target.

They were rewarded though on 75 minutes when Katie Hicks scored her first goal for the club with a lovely finish latching on to Lia Morphitis’s through ball to make the score 2-1.

In a rare second half attack Glebe did have a goal ruled out when Jordan Springet tapped home the rebound after a shot had come back off the foot of the post but was clearly standing in an offside position when the shot came in.

Lucy Robertson came close for Cray Valley direct from a free kick some 25 yards out which looked destined for the top corner but the keeper was well positioned to pluck the ball out of the air as it dipped.

Despite Cray Valley enjoying the majority of possession in the second half though they weren’t able to grab that all important equaliser.

Having also been beaten by a single goal at Sittingbourne in their last game before this, Cray Valley will be hoping to bounce back and build on todays second half performance when they take on Aylesford 2nds in the SECWFL Division 1 East at Oxford Road next Sunday, kick off 2pm.

With both teams having won just one of their opening four league games it promises to be a close affair.
