Kent opening batsman Zak Crawley has been named in a 14 man England squad for the Test opener against India.

The England Men’s selection panel has named Crawley in the squad that will face India at Headingley with the game beginning on Friday 20th June.

After an impressive performance against Zimbabwe that saw Crawley score a century in the Test in May, the Kent opener has secured his place in the squad and most likely the side to face India this summer.

England Men’s Test Squad:

Ben Stokes (Durham) – Captain

Shoaib Bashir (Somerset)

Jacob Bethell (Warwickshire)

Harry Brook (Yorkshire)

Brydon Carse (Durham)

Sam Cook (Essex)

Zak Crawley (Kent)

Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire)

Jamie Overton (Surrey)

Ollie Pope (Surrey)

Joe Root (Yorkshire)

Jamie Smith (Surrey)

Josh Tongue (Nottinghamshire)

Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)

Surrey bowling all-rounder Jamie Overton returns to the Test set-up for the first time since earning his sole cap against New Zealand at Headingley in June 2022. The 31-year-old sustained a broken right little finger during the ODI against the West Indies on 29 May but continues to be assessed and reviewed daily by the England medical team.

Durham seamer Brydon Carse and the Warwickshire pair Jacob Bethell and Chris Woakes are included in the squad, having last featured during the Test tour of New Zealand in December.

Surrey’s Gus Atkinson was unavailable for selection due to a right hamstring injury sustained during the recent Test against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge.
