Mike Conway will make his first appearance in this year’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar championship, as he rejoins with the Mustang Sampling Racing team ahead of this weekend’s action, where the 3.4-mile circuit plays host to the action.

Mike, fresh of his finishing his 2018/19 WEC SuperSeason campaign with a second-place finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will now team up with four-time event winner João Barbosa and Portuguese driver Filipe Albuquerque in the #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R.

Racing at the event last year, the team looked set for a podium fight before a sticky wheel nut on the final stop meant Mike finished in seventh position with the Mustang Sampling Racing outfit.

This year, Mike joins the team as they sit in fourth position in the DPi standings, with his team-mates having made two trips to the podium from the five races – once as victors at Long Beach.

The Prosperity Investment Management-sponsored driver had previously tested with the team at the start of the season, although Mike was forced to miss the Rolex Daytona 24 Hours after encountering problems with a visa.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been with the Mustang Sampling Racing team so I’m really looking forward to getting back in the Mustang Sampling Racing car this weekend,” Conway added looking ahead to the weekend’s action.

“It has been ages since I last drove the Cadillac, back at Daytona in the Roar Before the Rolex 24, so I’m really excited to get back up to speed and see everyone again.”

Action in New York for Mike will begin with two practice sessions on Friday 28th, before Saturday will see another practice session, with qualifying later in the day at 17:25 BST. Lights out for the Salen 6 Hours of Glen is set for Sunday at 14:45.
