Conway excited ahead of Portimao

Mike Conway is back on track this weekend as the FIA World Endurance Championship continues at Portimao.

Conway will be taking part in the Toyota Gazoo Racing’s 100th race in the premier class of the championship.

The 8 Hours of Portimão will mark the series’ first-ever visit to the Portuguese circuit with Mike and the #7 GR010 HYBRID crew of Kamui Kobayashi and José María López aiming to build on their promising start to the season following a third-place result at the season-opener in Spa-Francorchamps.

The 4.684km Portimão circuit sends drivers on a rollercoaster tour of the Algarve region, boasting extensive elevation changes along with a variety of fast, sweeping corners. On track, the team will face extra competition in the Hypercar category with the arrival of Scuderia Glickenhaus.

“I’m feeling really good heading into this weekend,” Mike said.

“We’ve learnt a lot from our first race with the car and we’re confident that we have everything we need to go for the win again. Whilst we’ve never raced at Portimão, it’s a track that we’ve done a lot of testing at over the years as a team so I think we’re well-prepared for the weekend.”
