Colvin makes Dynamos return

The Invicta Dynamos have announced that 23 year old versatile player Louis Colvin has penned a new deal with the Mos after he spent 2 promising seasons following his debut at the club in 2017.

Colvin has proved that he is adaptable, multi-skilled and can play forward and D with ease and these versatile attributes that will prove invaluable to us this season.

Prior to his first year in Kent with the Mos, Louis Colvin came through the junior setup in Guildford where he was an alternate captain and then captain for the under 16s. In 2015, aged 16, he opted to test himself abroad and flew across the Atlantic to join up with the Ontario Hockey Academy and play Midget Hockey. After 38 points in 57 games he remained with the organisation the following term, this time icing in the Hockey Eastern Ontario Midget AAA (HEOMAAA) division where he played a further 44 fixtures and tallied another 31 points.

Come 2017/18 Louis Colvin was back in the UK where, then Head Coach, Kevin Parrish secured his services to give him a first taste of senior hockey. In his debut NIHL season the young forward missed just 1 of 42 fixtures across 3 competitions and showed great determination and versatility playing across a range of lines in a demanding campaign.

The forward amassed 18 points – finding the net on 6 occasions whilst chipping in with 12 assists – and was an infrequent visitor to the penalty box with just 4 PIMS to his name. He subsequently went on to be awarded the ‘Coach’s Player of the Year’ award at the end of season presentation evening. Colvin resigned in 2018/19, a season that saw a change in the league setup and the Mos compete in a newly formed NIHL format.

Colvin was not fazed and continued in the same vein, scoring another 6 goals and 16 assists in the 45 games played.

He attracted the attention of the Bracknell Bees that season and went on to subsequently sign for them in 2019/20, icing for the NIHL team 18 times and the NIHL1 Bracknell Hornets another 4 times. Covid forced an abrupt halt in play and Colvin then decided on an extended break, choosing not to play last season. That decision is now overturned following discussions with Lennon during the off season and he feels the time is right to lace those skates up and get back out on the ice.

Speaking on his return, Colvin had this to say “I’m really excited to get back on the ice after a few years off and what better team to join than the one with the noisiest stands. I’m looking forward to making an impact on the team and really give it my all on the ice. Cannot wait to put the dynamos jersey back on and get started”.

Delighted with securing the services of Colvin, Head Coach Karl Lennon added, “We are super excited to have Louis back with us this season. He is a very talented hockey player with a great work ethic to boot. He comes to us highly regarded by fans and fellow players alike.”

“He is a tenacious forward that leads by example and from speaking with him, he is absolutely the right type of character we want to have in our locker room this season. He’s had a couple seasons out of the game but still at such a young age, I am sure we’ll keep seeing Louis realise his huge potential.”

“He’ll add great quality to our forward lines and I am looking forward to seeing him back in a Mos jersey”!

Louis Colvin will once wear the number 81 jersey for the Dynamos come September.
