Gillingham head North again this weekend as they head for the Mornflake Stadium to face a Crewe Alexandra side who like their visitors are looking up the table, eyeing an upward push towards the SKYBet League Two play-offs.

For midfielder Ethan Coleman, the challenge as the business end of the season approaches is clear and he told us what the Gills could face in Lancashire at the weekend. He said, “They are a possession-based team on a big pitch – it’s always a tough place to go but we are looking forward to the challenge as a squad and are ready to go there and try to win!”

“The performances on the road recently – Notts County and Swindon – have been decent. We played well at both grounds, having the chances but we just couldn’t take them on the day! We have done well on the road and just need to take those good performances now and turn them into wins!”

“It’s a big game for us as if we can go there and get the points, it’ll close the gap on all the teams above us and will definitely be a statement of intent. We have to take everything by the scruff of the neck now and really push and game-by-game take it and go for it if we want to close the gap to the play-offs and see where we go from there.

“The win over Tranmere last week was massive – we have had a good run of form recently three wins and two losses in the last five games! I think that that is play-off form,” Coleman said. “We don’t want to lose games and just have to continue where we are at the moment!”

“This is the business end of the season where things really matter! Across the season, we have played well – we had the long unbeaten run at the start, but I do think that we are back on track now – we are all looking forward to the game at the weekend and hoping for a win.”

“The momentum is with us again as I think if we don’t win a game we have shown recently how we can bounce back from it. These next games are so important, but we will take it game by game and try to get maximum points this weekend.”

“Crewe like to play it out from the back, but we have come across that all season and it won’t be unlike other teams who we have played against most of the season.”
