Gillingham are on the road again this weekend as they prepare to take on Colchester United in the only League Two fixture this Saturday.

The Gills go into the game eighth in the table, one point away from the play-off places and seven points away from the top.
Last Saturday’s remarkable comeback to draw 3-3 away at Shrewsbury Town extends the unbeaten run to four league games, although manager Gareth Ainsworth has expressed some frustration at not converting at least one of the recent draws into a win.
After trailing 3-1 at half time, a Robbie McKenzie second half penalty brought the Gills to within touching distance before substitute Elliot Nevitt equalised in the 86th minute, four minutes after coming on.
Colchester United sit 10th in the league, two places below Gillingham with one point fewer. They have had a mixed season so far but have found some consistent form, winning their last three matches.
Last season, Colchester won this fixture 2-0, while the game at Priestfield, which was Ainsworth’s first in charge, ended in a 1-1 draw with a Max Clark penalty securing the point.
Gillingham’s matchday squad is boosted by the return of captain Armani Little from suspension. Andy Smith and Shadrach Ogie are also in contention to make the trip, which will give Ainsworth some much-needed options at the back, given midfielder McKenzie has been deputising at centre-back alongside Sam Gale recently.
Ainsworth has praised Colchester’s free-flowing, counter-attacking football along with their ability to score goals. This along with the respective league positions and recent form make the game difficult to predict, but with around 1000 Gills fans expected to make the 150-mile round trip, there is every reason to believe they can get a result.
The game is live on Sky Sports from 12:30pm.
