Colchester United v Gillingham preview

Peter Taylor is expected to ring the changes for Gillingham’s Checkatrade Trophy clash at Colchester United tonight.

Having beaten Southend United 2-1 in their first group clash, The Gills will hope to put their league form to one side and concentrate on picking up a morale boosting win.

The game may well be Peter Taylor’s last game in charge of The Gills and he is set to give some of his fringe players a run out.

The likes of Steve Arnold, Finn O’Mara and Greg Cundle could be handed starts for a Gillingham side that need a win to give them some much needed confidence.

With goals hard to come by in recent weeks, Gillingham will be hoping to bag a few against a Colchester side that will be determined to keep a clean sheet at home.

Injuries and suspensions have plagued The Gills in recent weeks and Taylor will be hoping to have a number back for Sunday’s League One clash against Portsmouth, so may not risk those struggling with knocks at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
