CMR Completes Successful F100UK Test

Charlie Monk Racing headed to the F100UK (F100 Spirit of the 90’s) test at Buckmore Park Kart circuit recently.

Where Charlie would be testing the 2020 LCM F100 Aqua Compkart. The aim of the test was to see if the team had the pace to run with some of the front runners in this championship, with a view to possibly competing in the championship for 2020.

Charlie headed to Buckmore on the Saturday to help team boss, Lee Crampton who was running the engine in and dialing in any settings required for Charlie’s test on the Sunday.

There were plenty of things to learn for Charlie, including how to setup up a real kart chassis along with other aspects of the kart and engine. Whilst all this was new to Charlie, it wasn’t much different to his experiences in the motorcycle racing world.

Onto Sunday, and the time for CMR to head out onto the circuit. The first few sessions were all about understanding the kart and getting use to the power delivery.

Throughout the day, Charlie had the experience of the team owner, Lee, along with his own driver coach, Lee Hogben and a former World Karting Champion, Colin Brown who works for LCM as the team’s driver coach. With the guidance of these people, Charlie’s lap times dropped considerably, and he soon found himself lapping within 1.1 seconds of the current class lap record.

Speaking after the test session, Charlie said: “The day went really well. Credit to Lee Crampton and all his team at LCM, they put together a really good package and the kart was faultless all day.

“We worked on my driving through the day and managed to bring the lap times down to a respectable pace. We also managed to find a decent race pace before working on a little kart development. I’m really happy with the whole setup and hopefully we can put something together for round 1!”

After some great feed back from all of the team, Charlie felt the challenge was possible to run at the front of the series and be competitive.

The team are now looking for potential sponsorship to get him out onto the grid for round 1 at Lydd Kart Circuit in 2 weeks’ time. If you would be interesting in become a sponsor for CMR, please contact Charlie on [email protected]
