Defender Max Clark has been talking to KSN about the weekend’s SKYBet League Two game as Cheltenham Town come to MEMS Priestfield.

Speaking to KSN at this week’s briefing, Clark told us, “We’re all looking forward to playing back at home!”
Cheltenham arrive third from bottom but gained just their second league win of the season last weekend by beating Fleetwood in what was Steve Cotterill’s first game back in charge of the Robins.
“It’s always difficult when the other teams are playing for a new manager,” Clark admitted, adding, “we knew already that it was going to be a tough game as there aren’t any easy games in this league.
“They will be fighting for their new Gaffer, showing him what they can do; we haven’t had many games to see what he has to offer this time, but we know that he is a good manager and has good teams, but it is all about us at the end of the day.
“I would like to think that we look after ourselves and I think we do that now – I think you have seen that this season as we are focusing more on us than the opposition, bring our strengths. Look it will be a tough game, it always is when there is a new manager involved but we are looking forward to being back here in front of our own fans at Priestfield!”
“We have had a blip, but we have a good group where the mentality doesn’t change – it’s all positive in there and we stick together. You have seen that this season; we have been beaten in the last two games in the league, but the mentality doesn’t change in the building. This league is tough, but we have enough in the dressing room to look forward to Saturday and to get back onto the right track!”
“I feel that this season we have a way of finding ways to get results in different manners. I think that previously we didn’t have that. I think we rushed things in previous seasons, and I feel like now we stick to what we believe in, and I think that is this group’s togetherness.
“We do back each other whether we’re losing or drawing, we still feel that we can get something out of games. I do feel that maybe in previous seasons, we focused more on the opposition where I think with the Gaffer and Dobbo (Gareth Ainsworth and Richard Dobson), they came in and showed us what we are actually good at in terms of as a player.
“Dobbo has literally told us that we have so much strength in the team that we just need to use it and back ourselves, everyone has different abilities but as a group we’re really together as a group.”
“It’s Dobbo’s first home game in “charge” Saturday and we’re all up for it. Him and the Gaffer have worked together for years, and things haven’t really changed that much since the Gaffer went to have his operation.
“Dobbo has kept things simple, the only thing that has really changed is that the Gaffer isn’t here! I’m looking forward to the game Saturday – its Dobbo’s first one at home and I hope that we can all get behind him as fans and the players will do everything we can to put on a performance!”
