Clark agrees new Gillingham deal

Manager Gareth Ainsworth has another piece of the puzzle sorted as Max Clark has agreed a new contract with Gillingham.

The left back has put pen to paper on a new one year deal at Priestfield having been out of contract and available to speak with other clubs.

Clark was one of a number of players out of contract that Gillingham were looking to keep with attacking midfielder Bradley Dack having now agreed a new one year deal with the club.

Along with central defender Conor Masterson, Gillingham had been in talks with Clark since the end of the season and have now secured his signature ahead of the new season starting in August.

The 29-year-old, who joined the Gills in the summer of 2023 has, to date, played 71 times and scored four goals. He was named in the Sky Bet League 2 “Team of the Season” following the 2024-25 campaign.

The former Hull, Rochdale, Stevenage and Vitesse left-back becomes the fourth player to extend their contract in the last few weeks with Glenn Morris, Robbie McKenzie and Bradley Dack having also agreed new deals.

Clark netted three times in the club’s final 11 fixtures last season, including a last minute equalizer away at Accrington.

On signing his deal, Max said: “I am really pleased to be staying at Gills. I have very much enjoyed my time here, the fans are absolutely brilliant and I want to be a part of what the club is building.

“I am looking forward to the season ahead.”
