Chesterfield 0-0 Bromley

Bromley picked up a hard fought point away at Chesterfield on Saturday lunchtime, but they could have taken all three when Nike Kabamba’s last minute penalty was saved by Zach Hemming, although this would have been harsh on the hosts.

Andy Woodman made one change to the starting line up with Ben Krauhaus coming in for Will Hondermarck in midfield, sticking with the 5-4-1 formation that has served the team well over the seven game winning run.

The game got off to an open start with Corey Whitely having a shot saved by Hemming from a tight angle. Although Chesterfield had the vast majority of the possession it was The Ravens who had the better chances with Mitch Pinnock having a fiercely struck volley well saved by Hemming. Jude Arthurs then head over, before The Spireites then went close when a cross from the left was met by Bonis who turned the ball wide of the post as he slid in.

Omar Sowunmi headed wide at the far post from another great Pinnock corner, and he sent in another dangerous ball that Arthurs headed wide. After delays for injuries to McFadzean and Sowunmi the half lost momentum and ended goalless.

The second half saw Chesterfield have the better of things, Curtis had a shot saved by Grant Smith, Stirk set up Berry who fired wide when well-placed and Ladapo then had a header saved before putting the rebound over from close range.

After Bromley made four changes to the forward and midfield, they eventually came back into things. A late Pinnock corner was headed back towards goal by Sowunmi at the far post and somehow Referee Chilowicz saw a handball in the six-yard box from Duffy and awarded Bromley a penalty. Kabamba stepped up to take the spot kick, but his tame effort was comfortably saved by Hemming down to his left.

In the five minutes of injury time Chesterfield dominated the play, but a series of corners and crosses were well defended by The Ravens and they preserved their point, making it an eight game unbeaten run.

Bromley now prepare for the visit of Swindon Town next Saturday sitting top of League Two, six points clear of the Wiltshire side in second.
