Chatham Town had what turned out to be a routine win against a spirited Deal Town side on Saturday afternoon, and they head into the draw on Monday full of confidence.

The game started with Deal taking a surprise lead when a Reece Butler pass went straight to Tom Chapman who passed straight to Rory Smith in the area and from six yards shot past Henry Molyneux.

This kicked started Chatham and in the 18^th minute a Kian Garlinge cross saw Deal’s keeper James Tonkin who flapped at it and pushed it onto the crossbar and a corner.

In the next minute Chatham equalised when a Sam Sene-Richardson corner to the near post was flicked in by Stanley Oldfield. In the twenty fourth minute Oldfield saw his twenty-yard shot deflected for a corner and from another Sene- Richardson corner this time into the middle of the area Alex Giles rose unoppossed and headed in from eight yards.

On the half hour mark Oldfield found himself on his own in the area and his shot from eight yards was pushed around the post. A minute later and it was three when Oldfield won the ball back and went straight into the area and from ten yards shot past Tonkin.

The second half saw Chatham go down a gear while Deal tried to get back into the game as they had a lot more possession. The first half chance of the half came in the 65^th minute when a corner into the area saw Alfie Foster’s header hit the top of the cross bar.

In the 72^nd minute Wes Hennessey in the area eight yards out saw his shot superbly saved by Molyneux’s outstretched hand. Chatham finally got going and in the 87^th minute Oldfield trying to get a hat trick saw his twelve-yard effort curl just over the bar.

The final whistle went and Chatham will hope for a home draw in the next qualifying round.
