Chatham Town eased to an easy victory over bottom of the league Canvey Island and in doing so maintained their play-off place, another victory on Tuesday night against the same opposition would strengthen that position further.

The game started really slowly with both teams not really bothering either keeper then in the 17th minute Chatham scored when Sam Sene-Richardson twenty yards out saw his shot parried out by Jacob Marsden but straight to Nile Ranger who from three yards slotted home.
Two minutes later it was two when Sene-Richardson on the right wing got to the by-line before firing his low cross to Matt MacArthur ten yards out and his shot hit the back of the net; Chatham were now in total control.
Canvey were now playing for pride and had one half chance in the half which went well over the bar. In the 29th minute it could have been three when Sene-Richardson in the area passed forward to MacAthur and from twelve yards saw his shot go just past the post.

The third goal came in the 43rd minute when Ollie Evans received the ball on the left and went past the defender got to the by-line and his low cross was stabbed in by Ranger from three yards, in providing the cross Evans crashed into fence and had to be substituted.
Half time arrived and most of the crowd were thinking how many, but football is a funny old game and when you are three goals up and in total control you usually take your foot off the gas.
The second half saw Chatham controlling the game but looked like they were in third gear. There were only a couple of chances in the half, the first came in the 52nd minute when Sene-Richardson on the edge of the area saw his shot parried away by Marsden and cleared.
Then in the 74th minute a long ball forward saw Tope Fadahunsi race onto it, and he saw Marsden racing out and he tried to chip him, but Marsden was able to block it before being cleared and in the next minute Canvey had their second chance when Calum Newson saw his shot go over the bar.
The last fifteen minutes plus added on time saw Chatham play out the game and when the full time whistle went they celebrated this easy victory.
