This was not a day to remember for Chatham Town, especially as this was one of their poorest performances so far this season at home, but credit must go to St Albans who fully deserved their victory.

Defeat pushed Chatham down to fourth in the table, but they do have games in hand starting with Chichester away on Tuesday evening.
St Albans took the lead in the eighth minute when a Chatham throw on the left was then headed sideways by Reece Butler and Zane Banton latched onto it and went into the area and toe poked it past Henry Molyneux.
The Chats nearly equalised in bizarre fashion as Ollie Evans on the right received the ball in the area but lost control of it but it came back to him and from the by-line passed to Sam Sene-Richardson two yards out but his weak shot was saved by Magnus Norman, St Albans would then waste a few chances to increase their lead.
In the 14th minute Lewis Page on the edge of the area saw his shot parried away by Molyneux. In the 19th minute a Chatham corner to the near post was half punched clear by Norman and Tope Fadahunsi saw his overhead kick go agonisingly wide of the post.
In the 35th minute Alex Dyer running forward from halfway went into the area before shooting but Molyneux again parried it away. In the 45th minute against the run of play Chatham equalised when Fadahunsi twenty-five yards out received the ball and turned and shot into the bottom left hand corner leaving Norman grasping for air.
Then in the second minute of added on time Adam Leathers saw his twenty-yard shot tipped around the post by Norman. Half time arrived and St Albans would wonder how they were level while Chatham would go in level even though they had not played well could the second half be different.
The second half was a bit slow to get going then in the 54th minute a needless free kick was given away by Chatham and from twenty-five yards Sam Smart curled into the top left-hand corner giving Molyneux no chance.
You would have thought that this would get Chatham going but to no avail. In the 72nd minute St Albans scored again when the ball bouncing about in the Chatham area eventually found Kieron Petrie who side footed in from five yard.
Then four minutes later it was four when Leo Sery twenty yards out shot past Molyneux. The game was definitely over for Chatham as they huffed and puffed for the last fourteen minutes plus seven of added on time and will now have to regroup for Tuesday night away at Chichester.
