Chatham Town jumped up to third place in the league with victory over former leaders Cheshunt in a game that saw both sides cancel each other out for the most part with Sam Folarin’s strike the difference between the two sides.

The game was only six minutes old when Chatham had a great chance to score when Reece Butler sent one his long balls forward found Jordy Robbins in the area, and he beat Preston Edwards to it and as the ball was going into the net Bradley Roberts got back and cleared it off the line.
The next twenty minutes saw Chatham have a lot of possession without causing any problems while Cheshunt seemed content to keep the score as it was. In the 27th minute Sam Sene-Richardson saw his twenty-five-yard shot get deflected but Edwards still saved easily.
In the fortieth minute Chatham should have scored when Stanley Oldfield on the right received the ball on halfway and ran down the wing before crossing to the back post where Sene-Richardson was and from three yards he headed over when it seemed easier to score. Half time arrived and both managers would have hard team talks to get their teams going.
The second half saw both sides improve on their first forty-five minutes and in the 56th minute a ball crossed into the Cheshunt area was cleared but only to Alex Giles twenty yards out and his shot was pushed away for a corner by Edwards.
Seven minutes later another ball into the area was cleared but only to Dapo Olugbodi and his thirty-yard shot whistled past the post. In the 67th minute Chatham took a deserved lead when a long ball down the right found Sam Folarin who raced forward cutting in and from 20 yards his curling effort nestled in the bottom left hand net beating Edwards.
This suddenly got Cheshunt going as in the next minute George Nunn picked up a loose ball and from twenty yards his shot forced Henry Molyneux to save, their first real effort on goal.
In the 86th minute Oldfield should have wrapped up the points when he found himself on his own in the area and was just about to shoot when Charlie Naylor appeared from nowhere and blocked the shot. The full time whistle went and the Chatham players and supporters were exstatic while the Cheshunt players and supporters had a long trip home after a disappointing performance.
