Chatham Town Football Club, in partnership with the Bishop of Rochester Academy, have announced the formation of the CHATHAM FOOTBALL ACADEMY.Chatham Academy

(CFA) will provide a two-year programme of delivering football excellence and a broad range of complementary academic study.

CHATHAM FOOTBALL ACADEMY will be using the magnificent new facilities at the Bishop of Rochester Academy in Magpie Hall Road, which is situated less than a mile from Chatham Town Football Club’s ground.

The BISHOP OF ROCHESTER ACADEMY’S £23 MILLION ‘NEW-BUILD’ will include newly landscaped playing fields, a state-of-the-art new Conditioning Suite, an Activity Studio, an indoor sports hall and, for September 2014, an all-weather 3G pitch.

Applications are now invited for the 2013/2014 Football Season, joining the Bishop of Rochester Sixth Form from this September.

Football Trials & Parents’ Information Sessions

Will be held at the Chatham Town FC Maidstone Road ground on: –

1. Wednesday 20th February
2. Tuesday 2nd April
3. Tuesday 9th April
4. Wednesday 29th May

All dates are during School Holidays

The Football Trials will run from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Parents will also be able to discuss the opportunities with staff from both the Bishop of Rochester Academy and Chatham Town Football Club, who will be available during these times. For parents unable to attend during the day, a further information session will be held in the evening, again at the Maidstone Road ground. Refreshments will be provided.

Football

Professional coaching under the guidance of Head Coaches – Brendon Cass, ex-Chatham Town FC and current Hythe Town FC player, Reserve Team Manager Darren Phillips (UEFA ‘B’), Karl May (FA Coach and Level 4 Referee) and other qualified FA Coaches.

During the two-year programme, the opportunity to play competitive fixtures in the prestigious Football Conference Youth Alliance and/or Kent Colleges League and other Cup competitions.

Focus on progress into Reserve and First team squads within Chatham Town Football Club.

Study for FA Coaching and Refereeing awards.

Education

Alongside the focus of football, students will study for academic qualifications in the Bishop of Rochester Academy Sixth Form – Level 3 courses, BTEC National or GCE Advanced Level (AS/A2). There will also be the opportunity to gain a First Aid qualification, and the Sports Leadership and Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

Entry Requirements:

School Reference – We are looking for committed, enthusiastic athletes with an aptitude for football and a positive attitude for all aspects of the game. Including a contribution to the life of the Football Club and the Academy.

In addition to the Football Trials, candidates will need to meet the Entry Requirements of the Bishop of Rochester Academy Sixth Form and will have a pathways interview with the Head of Sixth Form, to select subject options and demonstrate your level of commitment to follow the ethos, expectations and dress code of the Sixth Form.
