Charlton made three signings on deadline day, and may still have a fourth to reveal.

West Brom duo, Sam Field and Jonathan Leko were unveiled on Thursday morning, but news of Brighton midfielder, Beram Kayal’s arrival did not surface until several hours after the window closed.

Field was the first signing to be‎ announced. He is a 21-year-old left-footed midfielder who has made 41 appearances for the Baggies, 19 of them in the Premier League.

Head of Recruitment, Steve Gallen, had this to say about Field:

“Hes got a very good left foot, a good physique, he’s tall, quite elegant, athletic, he can play, hes been at a very good club since he was a kid so I think everyone will recognise hes a good player.”

Field’s Baggies teammate, Leko, ‎was unveiled shortly after. Leko is a pacy front man who likes to take defenders on.

Galen had this to add regarding Leko’s signing:

“Lee and I have been saying the squad lacked a little bit of pace, so it was important we got someone like Jonathan in. Jonathan is very athletic, very quick, very strong. He wants to take people on, he wants to get after people.”

Just two hours before midnight news of Kayal’s signing also broke.

He is a 31-year-old Israeli midfielder, who joined Brighton from Celtic in January 2015. Clearly an experienced, classy performer.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer could barely hide his delight at securing Kayal’s signature.

“He’s a massive signing. He’s an exceptional midfielder, as you can imagine, me being a midfielder, I’m excited”.

“I’ve been watching him for a while just thinking ‘I don’t think we’ll be able to get him’ because of his qualities, because of his experience, but thankfully we’ve managed to get him through the door.

“He’s going to bring so much to us and he’s a winner.”

Kayal’s Brighton colleague, striker Tomer Hemed, was also thought to be in discussions with the Addicks on Thursday afternoon.

All three players are likely to play some part in the game with Stoke at The Valley on Saturday.
