Charlton Athletic 3-0 Shrewsbury Town
Charlton Athletic 3-0 Shrewsbury Town
Charlton romped to a comprehensive 3-0 win win at The Valley on Tuesday evening, and climbed to eighth in the table.

Russell Slade’s side dominated procedings from the first whistle, and could have won more convincingly.
There ‎were plenty of positives for Slade. Josh Magennis won absolutely everything in the air, Andrew Crofts purred majestically in midfield all night, and Ricky Holmes was the cherry on the cake.
Probably as much as anything though, the manager will be pleased with the clean sheet that accompanied his first win.
Slade fielded the same ‎starting XI and substitute’s bench as Saturday, but did make a slight change to his midfield.
Holmes was on the left, Kevin Foley was the furthest right of the quartet, and Crofts and Johnnie Jackson were in the engine room.
The goals all came in a nine minute burst midway through the first half.
Holmes – who went off near the end to a standing ovation – got the ball rolling inthe 22nd minute.
Picking the ball up near the halfway line, Holmes ran at a retreating Shrewsbury defence, before unleashing an unstoppable shot from just inside the area.
Two minutes later, Chris Solly crossed from the right, Nicky Ajose’s effort was blocked, but spun invitingly for Jackson to tuck away a rare goal with his right-foot.
The coup-de-grace came just past the half-hour mark when Holmes curled the ball home, direct from a left-wing corner.
The Addicks were content to manage the game in the second half, but they did have chances.
The best came near the end, when substitute, Ademola Lookman, unleashed a 30-yard effort that Jayson Leutwiler failed to hold.
Quick as a flash, Ajose was on the scene but snatched at the chance, and put the ball over the bar.
Ivan Toney had Shrewsbury’s best chance in stoppage time, but steered his effort wide from close in.
Both the result and the performance were what the manager has been looking for. He will be hoping his side can build on the momentum at Walsall on Saturday.
