Charlton Athletic 1-2 Swansea

Charlton Athletic were beaten 2-1 by Swansea at The Valley on Tuesday evening – their third reverse in the last four games.

Jonathan Leko gave the Addicks the perfect start with a second minute goal, but Yan Dhanda cancelled it out 15 minutes later, and Andre Ayew won it for the Swans in the second-half.

Team wise, Lee Bowyer‎ made four changes to the team that beat Leeds on Saturday; Adam Matthews came in for Chris Solly, Jason Pearce returned in place of Naby Sarr, Sam Field replaced Darren Pratley, and Erhun Oztumer took Jonny Williams’ place.

Solly was given the night off, but the other three were on the bench.
‎Charlton got off to the perfect start when they took the lead with little more than a minute played.

Newcomer Matthews’ cross found its way to Leko, who kept his composure to score with a crisp finish.‎ The visitors‎ levelled 15 minutes later when Dhanda’s deflected shot from the edge  of the area narrowly eluded Phillips’ left hand.

Swansea’s winner came midway through the second period, when Ayew reacted quickest to a left wing corner to fire home.

The Addicks came desperately close to snatching an equaliser in the five minutes of added on time, but Steve Cooper’s side held on to take the three points back ‎to Wales.

‎Charlton slipped to eighth but are just four points off the top. The brutal Championship schedule means Bowyer’s team play again – at Fulham – less than 72 hours after this game.
