Charlton Athletic 0-2 Norwich City
Goals from Yanic Wildschut and Steven Naismith‎ were enough to give Norwich a 2-0 victory on a warm night at The Valley.

Arnfernee Dijksteel and Aaron Barnes flanked Patrick Bauer and Naby Sarr in defence, with Dillon Phillips behind them.

Andrew Crofts and Jake Forster-Caskey were the deeper of the midfield quintet, wi‎th Ricky Holmes, Billy Clarke and Tarique Fosu ahead of them. Josh Magennis was the lone striker.

Norwich were the classier of the two sides. They were quicker, both mentally and physically.

The Addicks could not be faulted for endeavour, but they struggled to create clear cut chances. They should have had a penalty though.

Ricky Holmes raced clear three minutes before the interval, and was sent tumbling by Michael McGovern as he rounded the keeper.

David Rock thought otherwise & pointed for a goal-kick.

Dijksteel impressed, but Barnes had a difficult night against Wildschut. Previously, Karl Robinson had bemoaned his side’s profligacy‎ in front of goal, tonight they created little.

Robinson will be pleased that he will not face this calibre of opposition on a regular basis.
