These Kent rivals fought each other for the National Division 2 South promotion play-off spot last season. Canterbury edged that battle and in this first pre-season friendly they ended narrowly in front again after running in seven tries.
Canterbury kick start their pre-season programme at the Marine Travel Ground on Saturday with a visit from Kent rivals Tonbridge Juddians.
Head of Rugby Andy Pratt will be monitoring the contribution of two new second row players, Matas Jurevicius and Rob Meeson, as well as summer signings Max Craven, Dwayne Corcoran and Will Scholes.
Jurevicius is set to join the city club squad as a loan player from London Scottish while Irishman Meeson is a trialist who has been playing professional rugby in the USA.
The game is the first of three outings before the club makes its debut in National Division One on September 7th. Canterbury are at home to Esher on August 24th then travel to Wales the following week to meet Pontypool. Saturday’s kick-off- is 3pm.
