This Kent Plate final threw up a local derby between two sides whose differing fortunes meant they had not clashed in the last couple of seasons as the county town club faced near neighbours Aylesford who had come from behind to shock higher placed Beckenham in their semi-final.
Medway travelled to Canterbury RFC on Sunday for their final game of the season to face Charlton Park in the Kent Shield Final.
It may have been the last fling of an exhausting season but you could not fault the players of either side for the entertainment value of a game that went down to the wire.
