A physical Leeds side beat the Addicks 1-0 at Sparrows Lane on Monday afternoon.
Jason Euell gave starts to Callum Harriott and Joe Pigott, as well former Leyton Orient, Chelsea and Sheffield Wednesday youngster, Stephen Obileye.
Obileye was born in Hackney and celebrates his 20th birthday on Tuesday.
A goal by Zac Thompson just before the half-hour mark was enough to give Leeds the win.
Charlton lost midfielder, Ollie Muldoon, to a nasty challenge.
Charlton: Mitov; Osborne, Thomas, Obileye, Holmes-Dennis; Muldoon (Cumberbatch 66), Munns, Daniel (M Kennedy 85), Harriott; Sho-Silva (Ahearne-Grant 61), Pigott.
Subs (not used): Beeney, Pyke.
Booked: Thomas 37 (handball.)
It became apparent fairly early on Monday that it was unlikely that the Addicks would be bringing any new players in.
Long time target, Andy Delort, finally completed his move to Wigan. There were various names associated with Bob Peeters’ team but no further deals were completed.
Unattached players – such as Sylvan Ebanks-Blake – can still be signed and the emergency loan window will open next week.
There were rumours that Everton and Newcastle were interested in signing talented defender, Joe Gomez, but Charlton do not intend to sell Gomez.

Standard Liege’s Gabon international, Frederic Bulot, has joined the Addicks on a season long loan.
Bulot is a 23-year-old, left-footed midfielder who has great energy and he will add competition in midfield.
Bob Peeters has intimated that the club will be busy in the market on Monday. One player who will not be arriving at The Valley though is long time target, Andy Delort. Delort has signed for Wigan and was paraded on the pitch prior to the Latics game with Birmingham at the DW.
Charlton are still hoping to bring in another player or two before the transfer window closes on Monday.
The Addicks faced their third away game in a week when they faced Brighton at the Amex on Saturday and, again, they spent much of the match on the back foot. Despite this, Charlton came within seconds of winning the game.
Peeters will be hugely disappointed that his side conceded two goals from corners and the head coach may look at his zonal marking system at set pieces.
The Addicks had the best possible start when Igor Vetokele opened the scoring after just four minutes. Yoni Buyens played Vetokele in and the Angolan striker played a give-and-go with George Tucudean. Vetokele fired home from the edge of the penalty area.
The Seagulls almost restored parity from the restart but Joao Teixira’s effort was turned aside by fit-again, Stephen Henderson.
The ineffective George Tucudeanwas replaced by Simon Church at the break. Jordan Cousins was another who was below par and he made way for Lawrie Wilson just past the hour mark.
Brighton equalised midway through the second period, when Lewis Dunk rose to head home a right-wing corner unopposed.
Charlton thought they had the points sewn up when Vetokele restored their lead with 15 minutes remaining.
Vetokele controlled Church’s pass from the right, jinked inside and beat David Stockdale with a shot that entered the net via the keeper’s left hand post.
A week ago, the Addicks snatched a point at Huddersfield with a goal deep into stoppage time. This week they were on the receiving end, when Dunk levelled things up for a second time, three minutes into added time.
A corner was cleared, but when Kazenga LuaLua clipped the ball back in, Dunk again had a free header and made no mistake.
Few imagined that Charlton would be unbeaten after their opening five games, and though the late equaliser was a bitter pill to swallow, it should not detract from their fine start to the season.
Charlton: Henderson; Solly,Ben Haim, Bikey, Wiggins; Gudmundsson (Fox 80), Buyens, Jackson, Cousins (Wilson 61); Tucudean (Church 46), Vetokele.

Goals: Vetokele 4, 75.
Booked: Church 81 (diving).
Brighton: Stockdale; Bruno, Greer, Dunk, Bennett; Colunga, Holla, Forster-Caskey (Baldock 78), Crofts (Gardner 46), Teixeira; Mackail-Smith (LuaLua 61).
Subs (not used): Ankergren, Hughes, Calderon, Ince.

Spanish attacking midfielder, Jonathan Viera Ramos, is being linked with a move to The Valley. Viera is 24-years-old and is currently playing for Valencia.
Rumours suggest that Viera could join Standard Liege and then be loaned to the Addicks. He has scored 25 goals in 105 league games and would add a real goal threat from central midfield.
Another player linked with a loan to The Valley is Standard Liege’s Gabon international, Frédéric Bulot. Bulot is a 23-year-old, left-footed, box-to-box midfielder.
In a possible twist, former Charlton target, Yannis Salibur, could be heading to Liege which would free Bulot for a switch to SE7.
Both the Addicks and Derby are likely to make changes for the second round Capital One Cup game at the iPro Stadium on Tuesday.
Bob Peeters had to make a late change to his bench at Huddersfield on Saturday when Dillon Phillips was injured during the warm-up.
17-year-old scholar, Dimi Mitov, replaced Phillips on the bench and with Stephen Henderson unlikely to be risked until Brighton on Saturday, Mitov will again provide the back-up to Nick Pope.
Charlton always take three keepers to away games as a contingency for incidents like Saturday’s. If Peeters continues with the traditional policy, 16-year-old Jordan Beeney could travel with the senior squad for the first time.
Chris Solly did not have the best of games at Huddersfield and will not play another game so quickly. Young Joe Gomez is the likely replacement.
Rhoys Wiggins has been carrying an ankle knock and is another who is likely to be rested, with Morgan Fox taking his place.
Michael Morrison was sidelined by injury on Saturday and is may not be risked. If so, Peeters will have to play Tal Ben Haim and Andre Bikey again.
Lawrie Wilson and Callum Harriott may take the wide midfield berths, and Jordan Cousins and Franck Moussa could be paired in the middle.
George Tucudean still looks short of full match sharpness, so Peeters may give him an hour or so at Derby. Igor Vetokele is likely to be rested, which could give Simon Church a rare start.
The Addicks could field this team:
Pope; Gomez, Ben Haim, Bikey, Fox; Wilson, Cousins, Moussa, Harriott; Tucudean, Church.
Subs: Mitov, Wiggins, Gudmundsson, Buyens, Jackson, Pigott, Vetokele.
The referee will be Graham Salisbury from Lancashire.
This is not a game that is likely to attract a big crowd so it will probably be a low key affair. Cup games, where clubs field below strength teams, are notoriously difficult to predict but home advantage could prove crucial to the Rams.
