Busy pre-season weekend for Bromley

It was a busy weekend for Bromley as they put out three different sides over two days incoorporating a mixture of Under 21, first team players and trialists.

Friday night saw a young team take on Cray Wanderers at Flamingo Park, with The Wands also featuring a number of trialists and young prospects in their squad in a match that ended 2-2 in front of a crowd of 302.

Former Bromley player Lateef Adaja and defender Remi Sutton were on target for Cray, with Bromley’s goals coming from Nathan Patten & George Penn, who had a loan spell with The Wands last season.

On Saturday manager Andy Woodman sent a strong squad down to Horsham, featuring Michael Cheek, Ashley Charles & Deji Elerewe among others for a competitive 0-0 draw against the National League South side, while at home another mixed team played Chelsea’s Under 21s, winning 2-1.

Omar Sowunmi and Marcus Ifill scoring for The Ravens in front of over 2,000 people at Hayes Lane. Chelsea’s sixteen yers old midfielder Reggie Walsh dazzling the crowd with his first half display.

In the second half a number of young players who had featured at Cray Wands the previous evening had more time on the pitch looking to work their way into first team squad contention.

Defender Sam German and Marcus Ifill were praised by the Bromley manager after the match for their strong performances.

Tuesday night will see Woodman field two similar sides again, as Bromley play away at Tonbridge Angels and home to Crystal Palace Under 21s as the manager looks to give extensive game time to all of his squad ahead of the new League Two season.

The Ravens’ pre-season ends with a home game against Millwall on 26th July.
