Jason Euell’s Under-23 side went down to a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff on Monday, despite taking an early lead.

Alfie Doughty fired the Addicks into an eleventh minute lead, but the Bluebirds came back strongly.
Last week’s Stevenage hero – Toby Stevenson – featured in Euell’s line-up:
Charlton‎: Maynard-Brewer, Barton, Stevenson, Maloney, Cummings, Blumberg, Doughty (Sarpong-Wiredu 62), Dempsey, Kealy (Anderson 62), Morgan, Mascoll (Zemura 74).

Goal:‎ Doughty 11.

‎Subs (not used)‎: Burwood, J Davies.

Charlton’s Under-18 team fared better in their latest outing though, beating Watford 3-1 in a Professional Development League 2 South game at Sparrows Lane on Saturday morning.
Charlton‎: Osaghae, Moore (Halsey 60), Barker, French, Aidoo, Chin, Vennings, Trialist (Henry 76), Williams (Afrane-Kesey 85), Gody, Isiaka.

‎On the international scene, Lyle Taylor played a starring role in Montserrat’s 1-0 win over Belize in their CONCACAF Nations League match, and Josh Cullen captained Ireland in their UEFA Under-21 Championship game against Israel. The Irish went down to a 3-1 defeat.
The focus is now firmly on the Addicks’ next match against high-flying Barnsley at The Valley on Saturday.
Lee Bowyer will be keen to arrest his side’s recent stuttering form, which has seen them take just one point from the last three games.
Bowyer could scarcely have asked for tougher opponents, and the latest batch of refereeing appointments will not have pleased him.
James Linington will be the man in charge on Saturday. Linington was last seen at The Valley when Charlton controversially lost to Peterborough in August.
The Isle of Wight whistler had a shocker that night, and his performance provoked a post match outburst from Bowyer that led to him being fined by the FA.
