Kent’s Dan Brooks will make the step-up in the British Superbike Championship this weekend at Oulton Park.

Brooks will cover for the injured Eugene McManus with the MasterMac Honda, which is a seamless switch for both team and rider as they already work together.

Brooks is currently sitting just outside of the top ten in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship ahead of this weekend, and arrives in Cheshire off the back of his strongest performance of the season at Brands Hatch when he claimed a ninth place finish.

McManus meanwhile will be trackside at Oulton Park supporting the team, as he targets a return at the next round of the championship at Thruxton.

Speaking about the opportunity, Brooks said: “First of all, I want to wish Eugene the best recovery possible. I am really looking forward to the opportunity to get on the Superbike this weekend at Oulton Park and I can’t wait to get out there and get a feeling for it.

“I just want to say a huge thank you to Steve and everyone at Hawk Racing for this experience and I will make the most of it and enjoy it.”

Team Manager Steve Hicken commented: “We decided that Eugene needed more time before getting back on the MasterMac Honda, especially at a track as physical as Oulton Park, but we are pleased that he can still be here this weekend supporting the team in the garage and trackside.

“This gave us an opportunity to give our Superstock rider Dan the chance to ride the Superbike here this weekend. It will be a big challenge for him as he has only ridden the Superbike once before at the Sunflower, but there is no pressure on him and of course it will be a big learning weekend for him.”
