Bromley vs Yeovil Town – Preview

Bromley return to FA Cup action on Saturday afternoon when they entertain another National League side in Yeovil Town at Hayes Lane in the First Round.

The Ravens go into the game on the back of a 2-1 home loss to Eastleigh last weekend, having beaten Weymouth 3-2 four days earlier.

Neil Smith’s men currently sit in eleventh with 7 points from 5 games played, having booked their place in this round of the FA Cup with a hard fought 1-0 win away at Sutton Utd last month, thanks to a Michael Cheek penalty.

Smith expressed his disappointment with the second half display against Eastleigh, but one positive was a first goal for striker James Alabi. He also hopes to have one or two injured players back available for selection.

Yeovil make the trip over from Somerset sitting in 22nd having picked up 4 points from 7 league matches, all of which have come from drawn matches, The Glovers qualified for this stage of the competition with a penalty shoot out victory over Dover Athletic at Huish Park.

Last Saturday Yeovil lost 1-0 at home to Chesterfield. A second defeat in a row for Darren Sarll’s side, who have struggled to rediscover the form which saw then reach the play offs last campaign. Included in their squad is former Bromley striker Joe Quigley.

When the sides met in the National League last season The Glovers took four points from Bromley, winning 3-1 at home in September and drawing 1-1 at Hayes Lane in November, in a game that saw two red cards.

This looks set to be another close fought, tough encounter with the possible prize of a draw against Football League opposition in the second round.

The cup tie takes place behind closed doors as per Government, FA and National League guidelines, but fans can watch the game on a live stream for £9.99, which can be purchased from the club’s website.

The quality and presentation of these broadcasts have been widely praised by fans this season.
