Bromley vs Peterborough – Preview

Saturday marks the beginning of a new era at Bromley FC as caretaker manager Byron Webster takes the team following Andy Woodman’s shock departure on Thursday morning.

After three consecutive League One defeats Bromley are looking to bounce back when they entertain fellow strugglers Peterborough Utd at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game having lost 4-0 at home to Leicester City on Tuesday night a defeat that saw them slip to second from bottom in the table with 8 points from 10 games. Manager Andy Woodman dubbed the performance ‘not good enough’ and was unusually critical of his squad post match after a loss that had clearly hurt him and ultimately cost him his job.

Lack of goals appears to be a major issue for Bromley having scored only once since they returned from the international break and they looked exhausted in the Leicester game following the exertions of the 1-0 loss at Stockport County the previous Saturday.

Peterborough Utd make the trip down from Cambridgeshire sitting in twenty first, with 9 points from 11 games, on Tuesday night The Posh lost 4-1 at Huddersfield Town. New manager Robbie Savage had seen a brief upturn in results since taking over but came down to earth with a bump in Yorkshire this midweek.

The two sides met in the FA Cup first round at Hayes Lane back in November 2018, when Bromley were a National League side and Peterborough were in League One, The Posh winning 3-1 after The Ravens had taken the lead only to go down to ten men and concede an equaliser just before half time.

This time round they meet in a league fixture with both teams looking to get a positive result to lift them out of the bottom four as the table takes shape, with a quarter of the season almost completed.

Tickets are on sale from the official Bromley website. Kick-off is at 3pm.
