Bromley vs Leicester City – Preview

After a lengthy break due to international calls up, Bromley are finally back in League One action at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night when they take on former Premier League & FA Cup winners Leicester City.

The Ravens go into the game having lost their last two fixtures 2-1 away at Mansfield Town and 1-0 at Stockport County. The defeats leaving Andy Woodman’s side third from bottom with 8 points from 9 matches, although they are still just three points off sixteenth.

Woodman praised his team’s efforts over the last two matches but acknowledged that they were ‘up against it’ playing established EFL clubs with much bigger resources.  Recent signings Adam Jackson and Jodie Jones featured in the game at Stockport, while keeper Grant Smith played his first game of the campaign following an injury picked up in the summer.

Leicester City travel down sitting in fourteenth with 12 points from 9 league games, Russell Martin’s team won 2-1 at home to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, John Lundstram and Kamari Doyle with the vital goals for The Foxes.

This was a vital win for Russell Martin who had been under pressure after a difficult start to life in the third tier for his side, but they are now only six points of the play off places as they look to bounce back from a tough campaign last season.

The teams have never met before in a competitive fixture, with Leicester having been relegated from The Championship last season, while Bromley were promoted as champions of League Two. When The Foxes were winning the Premier League title in 2016, Bromley had just been promoted to the National League for the first time.

Unsurprisingly the game is a complete sell out, but it can also be seen on Sky Sports Plus, kick off is at 7.45pm.
