Bromley vs Ipswich Town – Preview

Bromley are in League Cup action against high profile opposition on Tuesday night, when they entertain Championship side Ipswich Town at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the cup tie having beaten Barnet 2-0 at home on Saturday with goals from Michael Cheek and Nicke Kabamba. Andy Woodman’s side haven’t conceded a goal so far this season, drawing their opening game 0-0 at Shrewsbury Town.

Post match Woodman hinted he may shake things up a bit for this game, defender Kyle Cameron being a major doubt having sustained a head injury late on against Barnet. The Bromley boss signalled Will Hondermarck out for his man of the match performance on debut and was delighted that two of his strikers had got off the mark.

Former Football League, FA Cup and UEFA Cup winners Ipswich Town make the journey down from Suffolk on the back of a 1-1 draw away at Birmingham City in their opening Championship game on Friday night.

George Hirst scoring a late penalty to secure Kieran McKenna’s team a point in their first game back at this level following relegation from the Premier League last season.

Among the Ipswich squad is former Bromley loan player Ali Al-Hamadi who was part of The Ravens FA Trophy winning side in 2022 and Luke Woolfenden who was on loan with The Ravens in 2018.

This is pretty much a free hit for Bromley away from League Two action and they can enjoy playing a Championship side in a one off game in front of a big crowd at Hayes Lane under the lights.

Tickets are completely sold out for the match. Kick off is at 8pm and is also being shown live on Sky Sports.
