Bromley vs Harrogate Town preview

After the excitement of the FA Cup last weekend, Bromley are back in National League action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Harrogate Town at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens currently sit top of the table with 36 points from 20 games, but the next eight teams are all within five points of them including Harrogate who are seventh on 32 points.

Harrogate were involved in FA Cup action also on Monday night, losing 2-1 at home to Portsmouth live on BT Sport.

After making the play offs last season Simon Wheeler’s side had a tough start to this campaign, but they have picked up some good results in the league recently, which has seen them move up into the play off places again this time round.

In their last league match Town lost 4-2 to Eastleigh having won four in a row prior to that.

Bromley’s last league match saw them lose 1-0 at Wrexham, but any disappointment from that performance was soon erased with their showing at Bristol Rovers on Sunday when they came back from one down to draw 1-1 with their League One hosts despite having ten men for the final fifteen minutes.

Any thoughts about the replay have to be put on hold though as Neil Smith’s men focus on maintaining their lead at the top of the league.

With Smith having lost three players to injury on Sunday his squad is thin on the ground at the moment, with the boss hinting he may have to dip into the transfer market to bolster his playing staff.

Luke Coulson, Adrian Clifton  & Rarmani Edmonds-Green all limped off at Bristol, while Marc-Anthony Okoye, Jordan Higgs, Jake Goodman and Mark Cousins are all out long term and Korey Henry is on loan at Welling Utd.

When the teams met at Hayes Lane in August last season the game ended 1-1 with an early goal from George Porter cancelled out by a Knowles strike for the visitors in the second half.

The reverse fixture in March saw Harrogate win 1-0 with an injury time goal from Jack Muldoon and this match looks set up to be equally as tight.
