Bromley v Grimsby Town preview

Bromley have the chance to put themselves up near the National League play off spaces tonight when they entertain third placed Grimsby Town at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game having won their last two league games with a 2-0 victory over Barnet last week and a 1-0 away success at Dover Athletic on Saturday, Corey Whitely with the vital goal in the win at The Crabble, which saw George Alexander make his debut for the club as a strike partner to top scorer Michael Cheek.

The consecutive victories have moved Andy Woodman’s side up to tenth in the table with ten points from six games played, two points off the top seven.

Grimsby travel down from Lincolnshire sitting third in the table with 17 points from 7 games played, The Mariners were relegated from the Football League at the end of last season, but are looking to bounce back at the first attempt under manager Paul Hurst and have started really well, winning five and drawing two.

On Saturday they drew 1-1 away at Maidenhead Utd with Erico Sousa opening the scoring for the visitors.  When the sides met previously at Hayes Lane back in February 2016, Grimsby won 2-1, which completed their double over Bromley that campaign on their way to winning promotion back to the Football League via the play offs.

The original fixture was meant to take place on the opening day of the season, but was called off due to a Covid 19 outbreak in the Grimsby squad, but this looks set to be even more interesting now and promises to be a very tight, competitive match between two in form teams who will be looking to keep in touch with the top of the table going into the Autumn.

Tickets are available in advance only from the official Bromley website.
