Bromley vs Gillingham – Kent Cup preview

Bromley begin their Kent Senior Cup campaign for this season on Tuesday night when they take on Gillingham at Hayes Lane looking to go one better than they did last year.

The Ravens reached the final in April 2019 before losing on penalties to Maidstone United.

Bromley manager Neil Smith, a former Gillingham player himself, is expected to field a team made up of youngsters from the Academy sides and some first team players in need of game time, but unfortunately for the Ravens boss new signing Andre Coker played for Cray Wands against VCD Athletic in the previous round, so will have to miss out. Bromley received a bye from the first round stage.

The last time Bromley won the competition was in 2007, but they have twice reached the final since then losing to Dartford in 2011 and then The Stones in 2019.

Following their spirited cup exit to West Ham United on Sunday, Gillingham are also expected to field an Under 23 squad for this competition. The Gills were knocked out by Maidstone Utd themselves on penalties at the semi final stage last season and they also received a bye to the second round this year.

Entrance for the game is only £5 for adults, with Under 16s able to attend for just £1. Kick Off is 7.45pm.
