Bromley vs Fleetwood Town – Preview

Buoyed by their win over Ipswich Town in the League Cup on Tuesday night, Bromley are at home again on Saturday afternoon in League Two when they take on Fleetwood Town at Hayes Lane looking to extend their unbeaten start to the season.

Andy Woodman’s side knocked Championship Ipswich Town out of the League Cup on penalties after a 1-1 draw in midweek, Deji Elerewe with the goal for The Ravens, while keeper Sam Long put in a superb performance in goal, saving two penalties in the shoot out.

In the league Bromley have drawn 0-0 away at Shewsbiry Town and defeated Barnet 2-0 at home last Saturday with Michael Cheek & Nicke Kabamba scoring the goals. Having made several changes for the Ipswich game, Woodman now has a real selection headache as he looks to pick his starting eleven for Fleetwood.

Fleetwood Town make the journey down from the Fylde Coast having won their opening tw League Two games, winning 2-0 at Barnet and 2-1 at home to Bristol Rovers. On Tuesday The Cod Army lost on penalties in the League Cup to League One Barnsley after a 2-2 draw. Toby Mullarkey and Owen Davenport scored for Pete Wild’s side at Oakwell.

When the sides met last season the game at Highbury ended 0-0, while the return at Hayes Lane in February saw Bromley win 1-0 thanks to a goal from Michael Cheek.

This will be Bromley’s toughest test so far in the league and with both teams in good form it should be a tight contest as they look to continue an impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign.

Kick off is at 3pm.
