Bromley FC play their first home game in League One on Saturday afternoon, when they entertain familiar opponents in Cambridge United at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game having won their first league match of the season, 1-0 at Barnsley last weekend, Victor Adebayejo with the vital goal in the second half. Manager Andy Woodman was full of praise for his team’s dogged performance at Oakwell and was especially pleased how the new signings fitted into the team and have bought into the work ethic required to play for the club.
During the week Woodman added midfielder Tobias Brenan from Wigan Athletic to the squad, a vital acquisition given the current injury situation with Ashley Charles having been ruled out for the season with an ACL tear, Grant Smith and Deon Woodman who are also injured, along with doubts over Jacob Mendy’s fitness. Richard Taylor was also suspended for the Barnsley game last week. Internet rumours still persist that another midfielder may be on his way to Hayes Lane, but there has been no official word on this.
The club will open the new Dave Roberts Stand for this game, on the west side of the ground to add extra seating for home fans in that section of the ground.
Cambridge United were also promoted from League Two at the end of 2025/26 and started life in the third tier with an impressive 3-2 home win over Wigan Athletic last Saturday, thanks to goals from Kell Watts, Louis Appere and Isaac Heath. Neil Harris’ side were also successful in the League Cup with a 2-1 win over Barnet at The Abbey Stadium the previous weekend.
When the teams met in League Two last season Cambridge Utd won their home game 2-1 in October, while the match at Hayes Lane in April ended 0-0.
This game looks set to be equally as close, between two newly promoted teams who have started their League One campaigns with a win.
Kick off is at 3pm, tickets are available from the official Bromley website.
