Bromley vs Bristol Rovers – Preview

Bromley are back in League Two action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bristol Rovers at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens go into the game sitting top of the table with 70 points from 36 games, two points in front of MK Dons in second and crucially six in front of fourth placed Notts County, although The Magpies have a game in hand. Bromley are now unbeaten in eighteen games and haven’t lost at home in League Two all season, but they have drawn five of their last six league matches.

Manager Andy Woodman looks set to still be without the injured top scorer Michael Cheek, but Nicke Kabamba stepped up to score in the 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town last Saturday, his eleventh goal of the season.

Bristol Rovers make the trip across from the West Country sitting in nineteenth place with 37 points from 36 league matches, having picked up some vital wins recently that has moved them away from the bottom two. On Tuesday night Steve Evans’ side won 2-0 away at Barrow, courtesy of goals from Tommy Leigh and Fabrizio Cavegn, sealing their third win in four games.

When the teams met in the FA Cup First Round at Hayes Lane in November, Rovers won 2-1, Cavegn and Joel Cotterill putting The Gas two goals in front before Jemiah Umolu pulled one back late on for Bromley. Omar Sowunmi having a goal disallowed for The Ravens in injury time in controversial circumstances.

In the league fixture at The Memorial Stadium on Boxing Day, Bristol Rovers took a 2-0 lead through Cavegn and Sparkes, before Bromley battled back to win the game 3-2 late on, thanks to goals from substitutes Kabamba and a double from Ben Thompson.

Tickets are available from the official Bromley website, kick off is at 3pm.
