Bromley v Southend United preview

Boxing Day evening sees Bromley back in National League action when they host Southend United in front of the BT Sport cameras at Hayes Lane.

The club have reduced tickets to £5 for adults and £1 for children and look set to be rewarded with a bumper crowd well in excess of 2,000.

The match will also see both teams wear their change strip to support the No Home Kit initiative organised homeless charity Shelter.

The Ravens go into the game having beaten Dover Athletic 1-0 away in the FA Trophy last Saturday, with Under 23 player Finlay Lovatt scoring the winning goal.

Manager Andy Woodman fielded a number of younger players in the team and also handed a debut to new signing Palace Francis off the bench. The striker having joined Bromley from Walton & Hersham last week.

Bromley currently sit in fourth place with 37 points from 19 league matches, two points behind leaders Chesterfield. The Ravens have won their last three games and Keeper Reece Charles-Cook has kept clean sheets in the last two.

The club have kept their cards close to their chests as far as injuries and covid cases in the squad, but it’s expected that there will be lots of changes ahead of the visit of Southend.

The Shrimpers are in their first season of National League football following relegation from League 2 in May and it’s been a tough first few months for them with managerial change and financial problems.

Former player Kevin Mayer is now in charge of the team and they have moved out of the bottom four, currently sitting in nineteenth place with 15 points from 18 matches played.

Last weekend Southend defeated National League South side Dorking Wanderers 2-1 in the FA Trophy with goals from Sam Dalby & Matthew Dennis.

Tickets can still be purchased from the official Bromley FC website, kick off is 5.20pm to allow for the live TV coverage.

With so much uncertainty over the future of being able to attend matches, this is a chance to take up the opportunity to see live football in the stadium & at such a good price.
