Bromley v Solihull Moors preview

Bromley have a break from their National League campaign on Saturday when they face Solihull Moors in the Quarter Final of the FA Trophy at Hayes Lane, knowing they are just two games away from a return to Wembley Stadium.

The Ravens have had a patch of indifferent form of late, winning just once in the last five matches, last Saturday they drew 0-0 away at Torquay United, a result that left them ninth in the National League table with 52 points from 29 games played, just below the play off places.

To reach this stage of the competition Andy Woodman’s side have won away at Dover Athletic 1-0, Aldershot Town 2-0 & Tonbridge Angels on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Bromley reached the FA Trophy final back in 2018, eventually losing on penalties to Brackley Town and the fans will be hoping that this current squad can go one better four years on.

Solihull Moors make the journey down from the Midlands sitting in sixth place in the National League with 55 points from 31 league matches played.

The Moors are on a strong run of form, unbeaten in eleven games. On Saturday Neil Ardley’s men drew 2-2 with Kings Lynn Town at home, coming back from two down with late goals from Alex Gudger & Callum Howe and they also drew 3-3 with Notts County on Tuesday night, Andrew Dallas scoring twice and Ryan Barnett notching the late leveller.

To reach the last eight Solihull have overcome AFC Fylde 1-0, Southport 3-0 and Stourbridge 1-0 all away from home.

When the sides met at Hayes Lane in January, Bromley won 2-1 with goals from Scott Wagstaff & Michael Cheek, before James Ball pulled one back for Moors.

This cup tie looks set to be equally as close fought and with the game playing to a conclusion, including the possibility of penalties, it’s winner takes all at The Lane to secure a place in the semi finals.

Tickets are £20 for adults, £12 for OAPs and £7 for 16-18s & Under 16s go free, with a printed programme at £2.50. Kick off is at 3pm.
