Bromley v Leyton Orient – Preview

Bromley return to National League action on Tuesday night when they entertain table topping Leyton Orient in what is expected to be a sell out at Hayes Lane.

With only three sides of the ground open the match is all ticket and they club have announced on Monday that they are expecting a capacity crowd for the visit of Justin Edinburgh’s league leaders.

When the sides met at Brisbane Road in November The Os ran out 3-1 winners, despite trailing to a Jack Goddard free kick at half time, gaols from Jobi McAnuff, Josh Koroma and Macaulay Bonne won the points in front of over 6,000 fans. Last season’s meeting at Hayes Lane in August 2017 saw Bromley famously win 6-1, but there is no chance of that happening again on this occasion, as Orient were still just finding their non-league feet following relegation from League 2.

The Ravens suffered another injury time defeat at the weekend when they lost 2-1 at Salford City, letting in goals on 87 and 93 minutes having taken the lead with an 84th minute JJ Hooper penalty.

Bromley manager Neil Smith will be without Adam Mekki & Jake Goodman, but otherwise should have a full squad to choose from, he refused to criticise his player after the loss on Saturday, praising the shift they had put in rather than dwelling on the two late goals conceded. Although losing late goals has been a real problem for Bromley over the last two seasons.

Orient arrive at Hayes Lane having drawn 0-0 at Barnet on Saturday, which took them to 77 points from 39 games played.  They current top The National League by one point with two games in hand and have also reached the FA Trophy Final with an unbeaten run of nine matches in all competitions.  Bromley currently sit fifteenth with 51pts from 40 matches.

Following the Salford, match The Ravens will have another tough assignment again an inform team looking to get back into the Football League at the second time of asking, but Smith will be doing his best to lift the team and prepare them for it.
