Bromley v Halifax Town preview

Bromley look to extend their impressive unbeaten run, which goes back to 11th September, on Saturday afternoon when they entertain Halifax Town in the National League at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens drew 1-1 away at Notts County on Tuesday night with Michael Cheek scoring a late equaliser for Any Woodman’s side at Meadow Lane.

Bromley had won their previous seven matches in all competitions prior to this and have moved up to sixth in the table with 23 points from 11 matches, having two games in hand on most of the teams around them.

Cheek has already notched eleven goals so far this season, looking set for 20 plus again this campaign.

Andy Woodman said the it was an indication of how far the club has come that he was a little disappointed to only pick up a single point at a club like Notts County. He also made a point of thanking the 130 or so Bromley fans who made the trip up to Nottingham midweek.

Halifax make the trip down from Yorkshire sitting in fourth place with 26 points from 13 league games played, on Tuesday night Pete Wild’s team beat Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 at The Shay thanks to an early goal from Kieran Green.

The Shaymen have won three, drawn one and lost one of their last five league matches and also progressed in the FA Cup, knocking out Pontefract Collieries 1-0 after a replay.

When the sides met at Hayes Lane in January last season Halifax Town won 2-1 with goas from Luke Summerfield & Jamie Allen after Cheek had put Bromley in front with a penalty, while later in the campaign at The Shay, Bromley won 2-1 with goals from Cheek & James Alabi before Neil Byrne scored an injury time consolation for the home side.

This match up looks set to be equally as tight as two form teams look to keep their place in the top seven and close to leaders Grimsby Town.

The Ravens go in to the game with a strong looking squad having signed Defender Jack Cawley this week, while defender Toby Stevenson has gone to Billericay Town on a months loan, while Kory Roberts is at AFC Telford.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from the club website.
