Bromley v Bristol Rovers preview

After Saturdays comeback against Harrogate Town from three down to draw 3-3 in the National League, Bromley turn their focus back to the FA Cup on Tuesday night when they entertain League One Bristol Rovers in a First Round Replay at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens resilience in coming back from conceding has seen them draw their last two matches, but Neil Smith will be hoping for a more positive start against Graham Coughlan’s side in this cup tie. Central defender Chris Bush scored equalisers in both matches as the summer signing from Ebbsfleet shows he has more to his game than just being a solid defender, adding free kicks and goals to his game.

Rovers make the trip up from the West Country having had the weekend off due to international commitments for their scheduled opponents, but last week they beat Swindon Town 1-0 in the EFL trophy following their 1-1 draw with Bromley on the Sunday, the winning goal against Swindon coming from Mark Little, which sees them top their group. The Pirates now sit in tenth place in the League One table with 25 points from 16 matches played, Rovers are on an unbeaten run of five games in all competitions.

Smith’s side has been very unfortunate with injuries this  campaign with Mark Cousins, Marc-Anthony Okoye, Jake Goodman, Jordan Higgs & Adrian Clifton all long term absentees, while Korey Henry is currently out on loan at Welling Utd for a month.

The draw with Harrogate at the weekend saw The Ravens slip to second place on goal difference behind Barrow, but they still have an impressive haul of 37 points from 21 games so far this season.

Tickets are selling fast for the match with the club announcing that 4,000 had been sold by the end of the game on Saturday and a sell out crowd is expected, with the match also being screened live on BT Sport. Whatever the result this promises to be a special night under the lights at Hayes Lane for the club and the Bromley fans.
