Bromley endure tough season start

It’s been a tough start to the new National League season for Bromley with an on going rebuilding process of the squad, injuries to key players and another high profile departure this week.

Former Gillingham midfielder Billy Bingham has decided to retire from full time football and leave the club.

The Ravens have started the campaign with two draws and two defeats, scoring just once, which sees them sitting fourth from bottom in the early table.

Manager Andy Woodman added striker Bim Pepple on loan from Luton Town last week and he made his debut off the bench in the 0-0 draw at Kidderminster Harriers last Saturday. Unfortunately for Bromley they lost young forward Soul Kader to injury early in the game, joining Louis Dennis, James Vennings & Mitchel Bergkamp on the missing injured list from an already small squad.

Six of the team that lead The Ravens into the play off semi finals last season have since departed the club, five of which are now plying their trade in the Football League and Woodman is left with unenviable task of trying to bring in new signings and loan players to fill the gaps.

Bromley travel to Rochdale on Friday night for their next league game, quickly followed by a Bank Holiday Monday match at home to Southend Utd, The Shrimpers have just been docked ten points by the National League and face a very uncertain future.

The Rochdale game is being beamed back to The Broomfields Bar for supporters who are unable to travel on a Friday to watch the match at Hayes Lane. Dale are in their first season out of the Football League and have stared with two wins and two losses so far, the same record as Southend also currently have.

With a big weekend ahead this could well give a further indication as to where The Ravens are this campaign as things shape up and teams find their feet going into September.
