Bromley add striker

Bromley have today announced the signing of striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe, who has joined the club from Colchester United on a loan deal.

The 24 year old spent his youth in the ranks of Leyton Orient, Ilford and Millwall, before representing Hucknall Town, Aveley, Carlton Town and Enfield Town. Following this, he plied his trade in Nottinghamshire, representing Gedling Miners Welfare, where he scored six goals in eight appearances.

Following this, in 2015, he made the step up to the Conference South, where he played for Hayes and Yeading United, before moving on to Barkingside and Lewes for the remainder of the season.

After leaving Lewes, Ogedi-Uzokwe moved to Cyprus, where he spent the best part of two seasons with Turk Ocagi Limasol, scoring 11 goals in 53 appearances. However, it was his return to England that would see his rise up the leagues, starting with a prolific spell at Maldon and Tiptree.

After scoring 34 goals in as many games for The Jammers, Ogedi-Uzokwe became highly sought after by Football League clubs, and it was Essex-based outfit Colchester United who would secure his signature. After 3 starting and 6 substitute appearances for The U’s, in which he scored once and set up another goal in a 2-1 win against Coventry City, Ogedi-Uzokwe trained with the Club in pre-season, scoring in a 5-0 win over Braintree Town.

Giving his throughts on joining Bromley, Ogedi-Uzokwe, said: “It feels good to join, it’s a little different to Colchester but it’s been great to train with the lads today and work with a manager who I’ve known for a couple of years now. Hopefully I can hit the ground running and score a few goals.”

With the striker having joined on loan until January, manager Neil Smith was delighted to have secure the signing of Ogedi-Uzokwe, he said: “We’re really excited to bring Junior in. He scored 26 goals in 25 league games for Maldon and Tiptree last year and has a lot of quality about him. Not only that, but he’ll help others in our team to push on and score more goals themselves.”
