Bromley 4-0 Havant and Waterlooville

A very confident and solid display from The Ravens saw them pick up three points on Bank Holiday Monday as they saw off Havant & Waterlooville in style at Hayes Lane.

The Ravens, set up in a 4-4-2 formation with Marc-Anthony Okoye at right back, made a positive start pressing their newly promoted opponents back and they deservedly took the lead on 8 minutes.

A Jack Goddard free kick from out wide was headed home by Omar Bugeil for his first goal of the season. Havant striker Alfie Pavey was kept quiet by the home defence and reduced to a few tame efforts from distance which David Gregory comfortably saved.

With Bromley still on top they went 2-0 up just after the half hour mark when Buigeil again got his head to a free kick this time from Frankie Raymond and diverted it past Ryan Young in a crowded penalty area.

Raymond went close himself soon after, shooting over following good work by Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe and then the influential midfielder put in another dangerous set piece that Jake Goodman turned against the post from six yards out.

The second half saw The Hawks come out looking to press, but Bromley’s defence held strong to early pressure and then grabbed their third on the break, the ball eventually falling to Ogedi-Uzokwe who drove the ball home from 25 yards giving Young no chance.

Nick Kabamba shot wide for the visitors after a brave header from Raymond stopped the initial attack, but then Goodman won a strong tackle on the half way line to set up Goddard who then played in Ogedi-Uzokwe for the young forward to curl the ball past Young into the corner of the net from just inside the box.

Bromley’s attacking momentum slowed from there and they lost Okoye to injury, which will come as a blow to Neil Smith, but Havant only offered a couple of efforts from distance by Theo Lewis and Kabamba, which Gregory had no problem with. Referee Smith handled the game superbly dealing with a lot of off the ball nonsense and keeping on top of proceedings.

In the end it was a very convincing win for Bromley who move up to fourteenth in the table ahead of their trip to Maidenhead Utd next Saturday.
