Bromley 3-0 Weymouth

Bromley recorded another impressive home win as they moved up to sixth in the table thanks to a 3-0 home win over Weymouth at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.

The game got off to a lively start with play flowing from end to end in blustery conditions, but neither side managed to find the final ball when reaching the opposition box.

Ten minutes into the game though Bromley broke up field on the left with Marcus Sablier playing in Corey Whitely who crossed for Michael Cheek to side foot the ball home from six yards out.

Bromley pressed from there with Joe Partington having a shot saved from a corner, Luke Coulson shooting over from range and Whitely hitting the post with a fierce dipping effort after dispossessing Joe McQuoid in midfield.

The Ravens continued to press with Partington setting up Cheek who poked the ball just wide and Cheek and Sablier combined to play in Jude Arthurs who fired over when well placed.

On the half hour a poor throw on from Calvin Brooks fell to Cheek, but he was denied by Ross Fitzsimmons in the Terras goal. Sean Shields went close for Weymouth from just outside the box, before The Ravens had another good spell with George Alexander setting up Cheek who shot over.

A terrible back pass from Taofiq Olomowewe then gifted the ball to Cheek, but Bromley’s top scorer was denied by a fine saving tackle from Ollie Harfield.

With the half almost over The Ravens doubled their lead when Chris Bush received the ball on the left and cut in before hitting a low drive which caught out Fitzsimmons out of position and just sneaked in over the line at his near post. The visitors had a couple of chances in injury time, but Bromley went into the break 2-0 up.

The second half started with Bush having a free kick saved, but Weymouth also created chances with Brandon Goodship having an effort saved by Mark Cousins and then seeing a second chance blocked by Byron Webster.

A good spell of pressure from the visitors saw them pepper the Bromley box with crosses, but Cousins handling was superb and he never looked in trouble along with his back three.

At the other end Fitzsimmons made good saves to deny Billy Bingham and Whitely, before The Terras had another good spell with Omar Mussa shooting wide and McQuoid putting another chance over.

With Weymouth pressing though Bromley made the killer goal on the break when Whitely found Cheek with a superb pass and he in turn set up sub James Alabi to convert the ball at the far post for 3-0.

Luke Coulson then set up Alabi with a great cross that he headed against the post and Cheek had a goal ruled out for a foul in the box.

Late on Weymouth pressed again, but despite Webster playing on with an injury the Bromley defence held out, Musa having one late drive deflected wide right on the whistle.

This was a very impressive performance from Andy Woodman’s side who seem to get better with every game.

The win takes Bromley into the play off places ahead of their home game with Torquay Utd on Saturday on a run of four consecutive victories.
