Bromley 2-2 Fylde
Bromley 2-2 Fylde

Bromley made it an unbeaten August after twice coming from behind to draw with AFC Fylde at a blustery Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The game began with the visitors on top, coping better with the windy conditions and they went in front on 7minutes when a corner from the right was scrambled home by Jordan Williams from close range.

The lead only lasted ten minutes though as Bromley responded by getting more into the match and they levelled up when Sam Wood charged down the left before crossing for Billy Bingham who fired home from the edge of the box, low into the corner of the net.

Soon after Bromley could have gone in front when Josh Rees set up Reeco Hackett-Fairchild, but the young winger blazed his chance over when well placed in the area.

Hackett-Fairchild shot over again as Bromley had a good spell and Luke Coulson hit a free kick from 25 yards which grazed the roof of the net, but just before half time Fylde took the lead again.

Williams raced clear of a static Bromley defence and coolly slid the ball past the advancing Mark Cousins to put The Coasters in front at the break and they could have gone further in front in stoppage time when Danny Rowe was just off target with a curling effort from distance.

The second half got off to a quiet start, with only a Matty Kosylo shot that was saved by Ravens keeper Cousins of any real note, until just after the hour mark when Michael Cheek was bundled over on the byeline by Kyle Jameson and Referee Mr Wood awarded Bromley a penalty.

The award not only looked harsh, but the challenge appeared to be a yard outside the box. Frankie Raymond easily converted the penalty, sending James Montgomery the wring way to equalise again and make it 2-2.

As the game opened up Neil Smith changed the Bromley formation from 4-4-1-1 to 4-4-2 introducing Adrian Clifton to partner Cheek up front. Initially Fylde had the better of things though, but Marc-Anthony Okoye & Chris Bush were able to keep The Coasters at bay with some timely challenges around the box and when they did get through once, Cousins saved from Scott Duxbury who had ghosted in at the far post to meet a deep cross.

Then in injury time Bromley almost won it when Adam Mekki had a powerful shot well saved by Montgomery and Clifton turned the rebound narrowly wide in a crowded penalty area.

The result was just about fair on the teams’ efforts and leaves Bromley in third as they head into September unbeaten in the National League ahead of their trip to Dagenham on Wednesday night.
