Bromley 2-2 Fleetwood Town
Bromley 2-2 Fleetwood Town

Bromley continued their unbeaten run to the start of the season, but will be disappointed not to have held on to all three points as they conceded an injury time equaliser to Fleetwood Town in an entertaining match at Hayes Lane on Saturday afternoon.

Andy Woodman made several changes to his starting line up from Tuesday night’s League Cup win over Ipswich Town, with Byron Webster, Michael Cheek, Corey Whitely and Grant Smith all coming back.

The game got off to an open start, with Bromley having a penalty appeal for hand ball turned down. Fleetwood then went in front on their first attack when a Denver Hume corner found James Bolton and his shot deflected past Smith into the net. Ryan Graydon missed a great chance to put Fleetwood two up when he raced clear, but fired wide when well placed.

The Ravens pushed back from there and went close when Marcus Dinanga hooked the ball over from a corner. Graydon volleyed over for the visitors before the Bromley equaliser finally came when a Marcus Ifill corner was headed towards goal by Cheek and Dinanga turned it home from close range.

Going into the break Corey Whitely had a volley saved and also put another chance over, while Williams Davies headed wide for The Cod Army.

The second half got off to an open start, before Bromley pressed. Mitchel Pinnock had a shot saved by Jay Lynch, Whitely went close and Pinnock shot over connecting to a Ifill free kick.

The Ravens were then denied a clear penalty when Whitely was brought down by Shaun Rooney in the area, but inexplicably the referee gave Fleetwood a free kick. After Ben Krauhaus had a shot blocked, Bromley went in front on 73 minutes when a Pinnock free kick was sent across goal by Krauhaus and headed home by Nicke Kabamba.

After another strong spell of pressure from The Ravens, the visitors pushed for an equaliser late on. Ched Evans had a free kick saved by Smith, before on the next attack a cross from the right saw Evans have a shot parried by Smith, but James Norwood smashed home the rebound for 2-2 in added time.

Andy Woodman’s side now prepare for a trip to Cheltenham Town on Tuesday night looking to keep the unbeaten run going.
