Bromley 2-1 Notts County
Bromley 2-1 Notts County

Bromley moved to the top of the National League table with an historic win over Notts County at Hayes Lane on Saturday thanks to goals from to young loan players in Alfie Doughty and Shawn McCoulsky.

In front of a packed out stadium The Ravens stared on the front foot and were in front on 2 minutes when Luke Coulson crossed for Doughty to crash the ball into the roof of the net.

Soon after Joe Kizzi could have made it two when he headed a corner just over. Reeco Fairchild-Hackett went close twice as Bromley continued to press.

From there it settled down though and County slowly improved and after a good spell they drew level on 34mins when Kyle Wootton found space on the edge of the box and curled a superb effort over Mark Cousins into the far corner of the net to equalise. The visitors finished the half stronger, but Bromley held on.

County stated the second half on top, but the home defence was again equal to whatever came their way.

When Notts did get through Cousins tipped a Kristian Dennis shot over and then saved bravely at the feet of Enzio Boldewin.

Despite Bromley switching to 4-4-2 The game became tighter and there were few chances to be had until on 73mins a Billy Bingham free kick came out to debutant sub Shawm McCoulsky and the young striker hit an unstoppable volley from the edge of the area into the back of the net to put Bromley back in front.

From there the game went from end to end, but The Ravens saw the game out to secure a victory that sees Neil Smith’s side move to first place.
The Ravens now prepare for their next home game on Tuesday night when they entertain third placed Woking.
